Sinopsis
Isabel se muda con sus dos hijos a un edificio prestigioso de Bilbao, de alquiler bajo y un método de admisión peculiar. Tras instalarse, los gritos nocturnos de tres ancianas del piso de abajo irrumpen en la vida familiar y vuelven inquietante la aparente calma del lugar.
Isabel moves with her two children into a prestigious building in Bilbao, with low rent and a peculiar admission policy. After settling in, the nighttime screams of three elderly women from the floor below disrupt family life and disturb the apparent calm of the place.

(1968, Buenos Aires , Argentina). Estudió en la FUC y codirigió el largo 76 89 03 (Bafici ‘00) junto a Flavio Nardini. En el 2008 dirigió el film Regresados, para luego embarcarse en la miniserie televisiva Germán, últimas viñetas (2013), sobre la vida del creador de El Eternauta. En 2022 estrenó Ecos de un crimen para Warner Bros y HBO.

La advertencia “basada en hechos reales” inaugura un relato que no busca reinventar el thriller, sino actualizar sus procedimientos con altura. La película de Cristian Bernard se articula en torno a la figura de una madre, interpretada con magnetismo por Maribel Verdú, inmersa en la deriva sensorial de un edificio que parece expandirse en múltiples dimensiones, desdibujando los límites entre realidad y fantasía. Las voces que emergen desde la ventilación construyen un fuera de campo amenazante que nos mantiene entre el imaginario de la casa embrujada y la brujería urbana, sin perder de vista el drama, eludiendo habilidosamente el encasillamiento genérico. The disclaimer “based on real events” opens a story that does not seek to reinvent the thriller, but rather to update its conventions with sophistication. Cristian Bernard's film revolves around the figure of a mother, played magnetically by Maribel Verdú, immersed in the sensory drift of a building that seems to expand in multiple dimensions, blurring the boundaries between reality and fantasy. The voices that emerge from the ventilation system create a threatening off-screen presence that keeps us between the haunted house imagery and urban witchcraft, without losing sight of the drama, skillfully avoiding generic pigeonholing.
