Se graduó en la Universidad de Nueva York antes de convertirse en guionista y directora en Los Ángeles, donde dirigió películas como There’s No Fish Food in Heaven (1999). ¡Felicitaciones! Acaban de dar con la mejor película de este Bafici, y puede que la mejor del año. Toda una misión cumplida, una obra gigante, como cantan los 107 Faunos en “El jefe de los malos” —a cuento de, he aquí el matiz significativo, ser el mejor en lo peor—. Desopilantemente ofensiva, orgullosamente descerebrada y políticamente insurrecta, Tripolar the Movie es comedia en estado salvaje, sin filtros ni tabúes ni superyó, muy capaz de asquear a John Waters o incomodar a Larry David. Ninguna raza, religión o letra del colectivo LGTBIQ+ se salva de la ametralladora sarcástica de Gaver. Ni siquiera ella misma que, como buena jefa (de los malos), es la primera en poner el cuerpo a las balas, en todos los sentidos que se les ocurran y en los que no también. Agustín Masaedo
Congratulations! You've just found the best film at this year's Bafici, and perhaps the best of the year. A mission accomplished, a monumental work, as 107 Faunos sing in “El jefe de los malos” (the boss of the bad guys)—about, here's the significant nuance, being the best at the worst. Hilariously offensive, proudly brainless, and politically rebellious, Tripolar the Movie is comedy in its wildest form, without filters, taboos, or superego, capable of disgusting John Waters or making Larry David uncomfortable. No race, religion, or letter of the LGTBIQ+ collective is spared from Gaver's sarcastic machine gun. Not even herself, who, like a good boss (of the bad guys), is the first to put her body in front of the bullets, in every way you can think of and in ways you can't. AM
