Stefano Bertelli

(1981, Italia). Comenzó a hacer cine a los 16 años y se incorporó a la industria musical en 2002 como director y productor. Ganó un premio Webby en 2021, y su trabajo de animación fue seleccionado en el Festival Internacional de Animación de Ottawa. Desde 2014, se centra en la animación stop-motion artesanal con papel.

A la hora de las películas es fácil creer en dogmas berretas, el fin del cine y otras figuras que tan solo nos dan —si es que lo hacen— cierta relevancia en nuestros roles —ya sea de espectador, crítico, programador, creador—. Que la IA, que las fórmulas, que el algoritmo, y así la lista. Spacetime Chronicles es de esos films que van contra todo, simplemente porque creen en la maravilla tangible y posible, en este caso, el stop motion hecho con papel para contar un derrotero dadaísta —con gatos parlantes incluidos—. Ya desde su encanto, la película predispone bien y aprovecha para lanzarse al absurdo, dando pasos firmes de belleza y de chifladura filosófico-científica. When it comes to films, it's easy to believe in silly dogmas, the end of cinema, and other figures that only give us (if they do) a certain relevance in our roles, whether as spectators, critics, programmers, or creators. AI, formulas, algorithms and so on and so forth. Spacetime Chronicles is one of those films that goes against everything, simply because it believes in tangible and possible wonder, in this case, stop-motion animation made with paper to tell a Dadaist story—complete with talking cats. From the outset, the film predisposes us well and takes advantage of this to launch itself into absurdity, taking firm steps of beauty and philosophical-scientific madness. In turning its back on the obvious in cinema, it gains its beautiful freedom. JMD
