Sinopsis

En su lucha contra una ansiedad social severa, Paul se refugia en una fantasía terapéutica: limpiar casas de dominatrices. Un retrato que ofrece una visión única de un ser excéntrico y entrañable, desde una mirada sincera y sin prejuicios.

In his struggle against a severe social anxiety, Paul takes refuge in a therapeutic fantasy: cleaning dominatrices' houses. A portrait that offers a unique vision of an eccentric and endearing being, from a sincere and unprejudiced point of view.

Denis Côté se especializa en retratar personajes excéntricos, marginados por el sistema y atrapados entre la realidad y sus propias fantasías. Paul, un hombre solitario, con obesidad mórbida y ansiedad social severa, descubre una peculiar forma de escape: trabaja limpiando casas para dominatrices y convierte su experiencia en un relato terapéutico en Instagram. A través de una mirada afectuosa y sin sorna, Côté retrata una fragilidad tan humana que desarma cualquier prejuicio. Para hacerlo, deja muy en claro la diferencia entre el lenguaje del “audiovisual”, de las redes, del mercado; y el lenguaje del cine, con el que le ofrenda a Paul otra imagen, otro espejo donde mirar el fruto de su trabajo. Denis Côté specializes in portraying eccentric characters, marginalized by the system and trapped between reality and their own fantasies. Paul, a lonely, morbidly obese man with severe social anxiety, discovers a peculiar form of escape: he works cleaning houses for dominatrixes and turns his experience into a therapeutic account on Instagram. Through an affectionate gaze free of any sarcasm, Côté portrays a fragility so human that it disarms any prejudice. To do so, he makes very clear the difference between the language of the “audiovisual,” of the networks, of the market; and the language of cinema, with which he offers Paul another image, another mirror in which to look at the fruit of his work.
