En las filas de las grandes películas históricas Orphan no tendrá su lugar. Si bien en el departamento de las reconstrucciones “bien hechas”, esas con garantías y reaseguros, que hacen de la mímesis su piedra fundamental, la película no empalidece frente a otras sinceras realizaciones de la gran Historia reciente, su camino parece ser otro. Menos el del convencimiento por la vía del peso casi físico de la verosimilitud de detalles mobiliarios que el de una intemperie en la que el dolor se vive sobriamente, al borde de la alucinación. Entre un padre ausente, de vida idealizada a gusto, y uno aparecido, un poco infame, que reclama su condición de tal, se debate el chico protagonista. Orphan will not find its place among the ranks of great historical films. Although in the category of “well-made” reconstructions, those with guarantees and reassurances, which make mimesis their cornerstone, the film does not pale in comparison to other sincere portrayals of recent history, though its path seems to be different. Less that of conviction through the almost physical weight of the verisimilitude of furnishings than that of an exposure in which pain is experienced soberly, on the verge of hallucination. The young protagonist is torn between an absent father, with an idealized life of his own choosing, and one who appears, somewhat infamous, and claims his status as such. In the intimate ceremonies of identity, the external forces of political conflict come into play. MR
