But those are other matters: Szulanski makes films seemingly nonstop, and three feature films in a year is nothing out of the ordinary in his production system, which churns out comedies, thrillers, dramas, love stories, and various blends and combinations. In Pride and Prejudice—a scathing comedy that takes aim at the film industry, the use of AI, and various falsehoods—he claims to be adapting Jane Austen but ends up on a film set making a romantic comedy with unlikable characters, a film about a shoot that’s just as unfriendly—or just as unkind—, with a crew full of arrogance, demands and quirks.
