Sinopsis

Manuel atraviesa una ruptura con Camila y pone en duda su proyecto artístico. Se refugia en un pueblo de la costa, donde sigue grabando sonidos. Allí, un hecho inesperado en la playa sacude su inercia frente al futuro.

Manuel is going through a breakup with Camila and questioning his artistic project. He takes refuge in a coastal town, where he continues to record sounds. There, an unexpected event on the beach shakes his inertia about the future.

Director y montajista argentino. Estrenó su primer corto, Corresponsal Francés, codirigido junto a Tomás Guiñazú en la Competencia Argentina del festival en 2021. Lo que trajo la tormenta es su ópera prima.

An Argentine director and editor. He premiered his first short, French Correspondent (co-directed with Tomás Guiñazú) in the festival’s Argentine Competition in 2021. Brought with the Storm is his first feature.

Lo que trajo la tormenta puede engañar felizmente al espectador y presentarse como una muestra de cierto vacío o amaneramiento: lejos de eso, sin embargo, esta película que parece concebida como un extraño aparato (como el que se menciona en la trama) ofrece la posibilidad de un cine construido contra los rigores del realismo o de las fruslerías de turno. Película-objeto, entonces, que arrasa con todo signo de fácil emoción para reemplazarlo por gestos de distanciamiento, de extrañeza, de laboriosa elegancia en sus formas y en la deriva de su narrativa, y establece su rechazo al tiempo que postula otro cine posible. Ese que nada debe a nadie salvo a la sombra terrible de los planes que se trazan sin mayor esperanza que la de alcanzar su propio destino de orgullosa rareza. Manuel Ramírez

Brought with the Storm may happily deceive the viewer and appear to be a display of a certain emptiness or affectation: far from it, however, this film, which seems to have been conceived as a strange device (like the one mentioned in the plot), offers the possibility of cinema constructed against the rigors of realism or the trivialities of the moment. A film-object, then, that sweeps away all signs of easy emotion to replace them with gestures of distancing, strangeness, laborious elegance in its forms and in the drift of its narrative, establishing its rejection while positing another possible cinema. That which owes nothing to anyone except the terrible shadow of plans drawn up with no greater hope than to achieve their own destiny of proud strangeness. MR
