Sinopsis

Rosa, compositora de música contemporánea, da su primera entrevista televisiva en la casa de su colega Tere para ocultárselo a su marido. La charla se ve interrumpida por cortes de luz y un perro que no para de ladrar.

Rosa, a contemporary music composer, gives her first television interview at her colleague Tere's house to hide it from her husband. The conversation is interrupted by power cuts and a dog that won't stop barking.

(1982, México). Su obra mezcla técnicas de ficción y documental para explorar lo cotidiano. Sus films fueron exhibidos en más de 30 retrospectivas y en festivales de cine como Cannes, Berlín y Venecia, y en museos como el Reina Sofía y el MoMA. Entre ellos, se encuentran Verano de Goliat (Bafici ‘11) y Los ausentes (Bafici ‘14).

La entrevista no es un género cinematográfico sino periodístico. Sin embargo, posee cualidades de gran potencia para relatos fílmicos muy diversos. Uno puede pensar por ejemplo en Frost/Nixon, donde lo que importa es el intercambio de ideas entendido casi como un match de boxeo. Y se puede pensar en algo muy diferente, como esta película de notable fluidez, en la que Nicolás Pereda observa cómo el contexto opera sobre Rosa, la entrevistada, y también sobre la colega que le presta su casa, y sobre la hija de esta. Lo demás es ruido es una comedia urbana inusual, una de esas películas en las que los elementos puestos en juego ostentan —sin alarde alguno— exactitud, gracia e ideas sin renunciar a la sutileza entendida como respiración lógica y necesaria. The interview is not a cinematic genre but a journalistic one. However, it has powerful qualities for very diverse film narratives. One can think, for example, of Frost/Nixon, where what matters is the exchange of ideas, understood almost as a boxing match. And one can think of something very different, such as this remarkably fluid film, in which Nicolás Pereda observes how the context affects Rosa, the interviewee, as well as her colleague who lends her her house, and her colleague's daughter. Everything Else Is Noise is an unusual urban comedy, one of those films in which the elements at play show (without any fanfare) accuracy, grace, and ideas without renouncing subtlety understood as logical and necessary breathing space.
