Sinopsis
Una carta filmada hecha de fragmentos cotidianos sobre un presente convulso. El director, ahora padre e hijo a la vez, se pregunta si fue justo traer a alguien a un mundo violento mientras enfrenta el vínculo con su propio padre.
A filmed letter made up of everyday fragments about a turbulent present. The director, now both father and son, wonders if it was fair to bring someone into a violent world as he confronts his own bond with his father.

Javier Olivera
(1969, Buenos Aires, Argentina). Estudió pintura con Luis Felipe Noé y Eduardo Stupía, cine en UCLA y literatura en la Fundación Ortega y Gasset de España. Dirigió y escribió los largos El visitante (Bafici ‘99) y La sombra (Bafici ‘15), entre otras. Además, realizó series documentales y films de ficción, fotografías, videos y videoinstalaciones.

He directed and wrote El visitante (Bafici ‘99) and The Shadow (Bafici ‘15). He also made documentary series, fiction films, photographs, videos and video installations.

Una carta en forma de película puede ser muchas cosas, pero a veces alcanza un relumbre especial que la distingue: el director filma un legado para su hijo —para que a esa edad de los veinte reciba el mensaje en forma cabal—, pero a su vez él es hijo también, nada menos que de Héctor Olivera, que además está en la película. De modo que La piel puede ser vista como un mensaje a tres bandas, o cómo los correos pueden concebirse en forma de imágenes, susurrando violentamente, esperando el momento adecuado para su recepción, mascullando una incertidumbre que la obstinada voz en off no termina de despejar. Javier Olivera no las tiene todas consigo, y ese hecho ilumina su película y le otorga una particular nobleza. La piel parece forjada en el deseo de expresar un fatal desconcierto. David Obarrio
A letter in the form of a film can be many things, but sometimes it achieves a special brilliance that sets it apart: the director films a legacy for his son (so that when he reaches his twenties, he will receive the message in its entirety) but at the same time, he is also a son, none other than Héctor Olivera's, who also appears in the film. So The Skin can be seen as a three-way message, or how messages can be conceived in the form of images, whispering violently, waiting for the right moment to be received, muttering an uncertainty that the stubborn voiceover fails to dispel. Javier Olivera does not have it all figured out, and that fact illuminates his film and gives it a particular noble quality. The Skin seems forged in the desire to express a fatal bewilderment. DO
