La propuesta es audaz: dar cuenta del vínculo intrínseco entre la luz primigenia que fracturó el vacío y la tecnología que busca, desde hace más de cien años, registrar su rastro. Al igual que en su corto anterior, Javier de Azukue vuelve a explorar la extrañeza, pero ahora lo hace fundiendo lo digital con lo analógico, enmarcando lo etéreo en el más estable de los soportes fílmicos. Entre irrupciones de la naturaleza y la evolución del audiovisual, también emerge el elemento humano en forma de mano que sostiene lo creado. La luz que frenó el universo podría catalogarse como cine del futuro, pero sería un error: es un ejercicio de ciencia ficción contemporánea, en tiempos donde la esencia de las imágenes está en tensión y en constante cuestionamiento. The proposal is bold: to account for the intrinsic link between the primordial light that fractured the void and the technology that has sought, for more than a hundred years, to record its trace. As in his previous short film, Javier de Azukue once again explores strangeness, but now he does so by merging the digital with the analog, framing the ethereal in the most stable of film media. Between the irruptions of nature and the evolution of audiovisuals, the human element also emerges in the form of a hand that holds what has been created. The Light That Stopped the Universe could be classified as cinema of the future, but that would be a mistake: it is an exercise in contemporary science fiction, at a time when the essence of images is under tension and constantly being questioned.
