Una confitería en el centro de A Coruña como epicentro de todo un país (Galicia) o de una forma de concebirlo desde el sentimiento. Lucía Seles se plantea un retrato de esa confitería, la Manhattan, o, más en concreto, de las trece mesas que dan a la vidriera. Las mesas no son más que un punto de partida porque el video ejerce un doble movimiento: hacia adentro, para fijarse en los clientes de la confitería, en particular las mujeres solitarias; y hacia afuera, para proponer una visión de la ciudad y de toda Galicia, una Galicia inevitablemente invernal, como le gusta a Seles. Fuera hay también terminales de autobuses desérticas, festivales de música tradicional, podcasts de programas de Radio Clásica o unos pasodobles que giran cual remolino en torno a la Manhattan. A café in the heart of A Coruña serves as the epicenter of an entire region (Galicia) or, more poignantly, of a way of conceiving it through emotion. Lucía Seles sets out to create a portrait of that café, the Manhattan, or, more specifically, of the thirteen tables facing the window. The tables are merely a starting point because the video moves in two directions: inward, to focus on the café’s patrons, particularly the solitary women; and outward, to offer a view of the city and of all of Galicia—an inevitably wintry Galicia, just as Seles likes it. Outside, there are also deserted bus terminals, traditional music festivals, podcasts of Radio Clásica programs, and pasodobles swirling like a whirlwind around the Manhattan. JP
