Sinopsis

Un escritor intenta filmar su ópera prima sin financiamiento, con ayuda de sus alumnos, mientras la pandemia, una crisis de pareja y la presencia inquietante de su actriz protagonista desordenan el proyecto y su vida.

A writer attempts to film his debut feature film without funding, with the help of his students, while the pandemic, a relationship crisis and the unsettling presence of his leading actress disrupt the project and his life.

Otra película difícil de clasificar, insobornable, dichosamente austera y lúcida. ¿Cuántas películas así se pueden rodar? En cualquier caso, Sánchez lo consigue. Aquí parece abrevar un poco en Ruiz para producir una comedia sobre el arte en la que el sistema o el “dispositivo” de citas y alusiones es otra de las formas mediante la que la trama se espesa, exagera su naturaleza absurda y expone la vanidad desconcertante de ese mundo cerrado que es el de Sánchez, pero es también el de todos. Más que revoleo de referencias, hay seres frágiles, cómicos, inermes: Sánchez capta las idas y vueltas de los personajes y los hace vivir en sus frases balbuceadas, en sus parpadeos, en la incertidumbre que no alcanza a disiparse en el refugio de los libros voluminosos ni de los saberes filosóficos. Another film that is difficult to classify, incorruptible, delightfully austere, and lucid. How many films like this can be made? In any case, Sánchez succeeds. Here he seems to draw a little on Ruiz to produce a comedy about art in which the system or “device” of quotations and allusions is another way in which the plot thickens, exaggerates its absurd nature, and exposes the disconcerting vanity of that closed world that is Sánchez's, but also everyone's. More than a flurry of references, there are fragile, comical, defenseless beings: Sánchez captures the comings and goings of the characters and brings them to life in their stammering lines, in their blinks, in the uncertainty that cannot be dispelled in the refuge of voluminous books or philosophical knowledge.
