Sinopsis

Ana y sus dos hijos viven en el anonimato de los suburbios. Ella cuida a los enfermos para subsistir. Pero su hija menor requiere mucho más, tanto que pone en riesgo el delicado equilibrio de sus vidas.

Ana and her two children live in the anonymity of the suburbs. She cares for the sick to make ends meet. But her youngest daughter requires much more, so much so that it puts the delicate balance of their lives at risk.

Piazza (1973, Mendoza, Argentina) dirigió el largo La noche adentro (2023) junto a Alejandro Alonso. Bracelis (1980, Mendoza) trabajó en diversas series como guionista. Juntas realizaron la serie web La vida tranquila (2020).

Esto es de lo más raro y personal que se ha visto últimamente en el cine argentino. Una tristeza infinita, un asunto que se va relegando indefinidamente de escena en escena sin llegar nunca a su centro, como una presencia ominosa. Las directoras consiguen con toda la calma del mundo un clima de opresión cósmica sin necesidad de que se entienda todo lo que está pasando. Aquello de lo que no se puede escapar está constituido por cosas sueltas, por fragmentos: por un horror subyacente, la fatalidad de la enfermedad, la anormalidad de esas vidas. Asentada, sobria, sin un acento de más, Antes del cuerpo nos recuerda la incertidumbre de la existencia bajo la forma de un relato de terror sin escándalos ni contemplaciones. David Obarrio

This is one of the strangest and most personal films Argentine cinema has seen lately. An infinite sadness, a subject that recedes indefinitely from scene to scene without ever reaching its center, like an ominous presence. The directors achieve with all the calmness in the world an atmosphere of cosmic oppression without the need to understand everything that is happening. That which cannot be escaped is constituted by loose things, by fragments: by an underlying horror, the fatality of disease, the abnormality of these lives. Settled, sober, without one accent too many, Before the Body reminds us of the uncertainty of existence in the form of a horror story without any scandal or contemplation. DO
