Sinopsis

Nacido en Argentina, estudió en la UBA antes de mudarse a Nueva York a estudiar en la Escuela de Diseño Parsons. Su ópera prima, Fin de siglo, ganó el Premio a Mejor Película de la Competencia Argentina en el Bafici ‘21.

Lucio Castro y su ópera prima, el corazón partido en el tiempo de Fin de siglo, se alzaron con el premio a Mejor Película Argentina en el Bafici 2019. Entonces aparecía el famoso desafío de la segunda película: el autor decide dar pasos hitchockianos pero alterados, más etéreos y con sintonía en los deseos antes que en la belleza del thriller (que está aquí, pero sonando más como Joy Division). Castro les baja el volumen a los volantazos de guion, y se queda con los instantes: acompaña a su protagonista, Mia Maestro, para destilar su tristeza, sus deseos, su pasión, su duelo. Cercano a Angela Schanelec y a films como Tár (en su modo de acompañar), Castro crea una elegía moderna, sensible, que corroe y comprende, que cuida y respira. Juan Manuel Domínguez

Lucio Castro and his debut feature, the heart broken in time that is End of the Century, won the award for Best Argentine Film at Bafici 2019. Then the famous challenge of the sophomore film appeared: the auteur decides to take Hitchockian but altered steps, more ethereal and attuned to desires rather than to the beauty of the thriller (which is here, but sounding more like Joy Division). Castro turns down the volume on narrative twists and turns and concentrates on the moments: he accompanies his protagonist, Mia Maestro, to distill her sadness, her desires, her passion, her grief. Close to Angela Schanelec and films like Tár (in their way of accompanying), Castro creates a modern, sensitive elegy that corrodes and understands, that cares and breathes. JMD
