Sinopsis

Solita emprende un viaje al Paraíso de Carlos. Pasaron los años y los hijos artísticos de China no volvieron a encontrarse. Su muerte cerró una era. En la memoria quedan el jazz de sus invenciones y el legado de una artista que abrió caminos, entre delirios y proscripciones.

Solita embarks on a journey to Carlos' Paradise. Years passed and China's artistic children never met again. Her death marked the end of an era. What remains in our memory is the jazz of her inventions and the legacy of an artist who broke new ground, amid delirium and proscription.

(1961, Argentina). Lic. en Filosofía, es autor de Tumberos, Lalola, Los exitosos Pells, Criminal, Sol negro, Variaciones Walsh y En terapia. Recibió Premios Emmy, Martín Fierro, Konex de Platino, ACE, FundTV y Clarín. En 2022 dirigió Santa Evita, ganadora de 9 Cóndor de Plata y Premios Platino.

(1961, Argentina). With a degree in Philosophy, he is the author of Tumberos, Lalola, Los exitosos Pells, Criminal, Sol negro, Variaciones Walsh, and En terapia. He has received Emmy, Martín Fierro, Konex de Platino, ACE, FundTV, and Clarín awards. In 2022, he directed Santa Evita, winner of nine Silver Condor and Platinum Awards.

China es para nosotros la China, que no es la milenaria pero se le parece. Nosotros, los de la Argentina que adoptamos, sabiéndolo o no, a China Zorrilla, la China, que fue uruguaya y se volvió argentina a fuerza de presencia en las tablas y en las pantallas de este lado. Este viaje tiene a Carlos Perciavalle y a Soledad Silveyra como barqueros; guías cultos y amables, de charla vehemente y profuso anecdotario con la figura de marras como protagonista. El blanco y negro y la excelente música de Mariano Loiácono ofrecen broches distinguidos a los fragmentos de películas, al archivo elegido con rigor, al bello misterio de esa mujer que se enamoró muchas veces y que jamás “formó familia’’, como una novicia eterna, prometida siempre al teatro, novia empedernida del cine para gracia del mundo. To us, China is “la China,” which is not ancient China but resembles it. We, the people of Argentina, knowingly or unknowingly, adopted China Zorrilla, la China, who was Uruguayan and became Argentinian as a result of her presence on stage and screen on this side of the river. This journey has Carlos Perciavalle and Soledad Silveyra as boatmen; cultured and friendly guides, with lively conversation and a wealth of anecdotes featuring the figure in question. The black and white images and the excellent music by Mariano Loiácono provide a distinguished backdrop to the film clips, the carefully selected archive material, and the beautiful mystery of this woman who fell in love many times but never “started a family,” like an eternal novice, forever devoted to the theater, a lifelong lover of cinema for the enjoyment of the world.
