Sinopsis

Un recorrido por las imágenes de un régimen que convirtió el cine en herramienta de poder. A partir de archivos de propaganda y material inédito del archivo privado de Enver Hoxha, reconstruye la historia de la Albania comunista bajo el liderazgo de un solo hombre.

A journey through the images of a regime that made cinema an instrument of power. Through propaganda archives and unreleased private footage from Enver Hoxha’s archives, he reconstructs the history of communist Albania ruled by a single man.

Roland Sejko

Nació en Albania antes de mudarse a Italia para trabajar en el Istituto Luce, la productora cinematográfica más antigua de Italia (ahora fusionada con Cinecittà Luce). Además de director, es periodista. Entre sus obras se encuentran 9x10 Novanta (2014) y The Image Machine of Alferdo C. (2021).

Born in Albania, he moved to Italy to work at Istituto Luce, Italy's oldest film production company (now merged with Cinecittà Luce). In addition to being a director, he is also a journalist. His works include 9x10 Novanta (2014) and The Image Machine of Alferdo C. (2021).

Durante los largos años de la Guerra Fría, no hubo de este lado de la Cortina de Hierro territorio europeo más desconocido, diríase escondido tras un velo inexpugnable, que la Albania comandada con mano firme por Erven Hoxha, su omnipresente dictador. Dispuestas a saldar esa deuda, hay en Film di Stato imágenes autocelebratorias hasta el paroxismo, en escenas que muestran tanto los fastos dispuestos por el régimen como la vida cotidiana de un pueblo y de su líder; no falta tampoco la esperable salmodia de frases hechas a la medida de un mundo que hoy suena antiguo y extraño. Una vez corrido el velo, es en la brecha que se abre entre lo que se nos permite ver y lo que ahora podemos saber donde esas imágenes despliegan toda su potencia. Sebastián Rosal

During the long years of the Cold War, there was no European territory on this side of the Iron Curtain that was more unknown, seemingly hidden behind an impenetrable veil, than Albania, ruled with an iron fist by Enver Hoxha, its omnipresent dictator. Seeking to settle this debt, A State Film contains images that are self-celebratory to the point of paroxysm, in scenes that show both the pomp and circumstance arranged by the regime and the daily life of a people and their leader. There is also the expected chanting of phrases tailored to a world that today sounds ancient and strange. Once the veil is lifted, it is in the gap between what we are allowed to see and what we can now know that these images reveal their full power. SR
