Sinopsis

En una pequeña isla del Mediterráneo, Ettore y Giovannino viven su último verano juntos antes de que Ettore se vaya al continente a estudiar. A través del archivo de Pino, un cineasta aficionado, el tiempo se vuelve memoria compartida y el aliento de la isla late en toda la comunidad.

On a small island in the heart of the Mediterranean, Ettore and Giovannino are about to live their last summer together before Ettore moves to the mainland to study. Through the archive of Pino, an elderly amateur filmmaker, time turns into shared memory, and the island’s breath becomes the heartbeat of an entire community.

Director y guionista siciliano. Su primer largo, Triokala (2015), recibió un amplio reconocimiento internacional. Luego escribió y dirigió Epicentro (2018), que se estrenó en la 75ª edición del Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia, y Signals of Life, estrenada en el Festival de Cine de Roma en 2023.

A Sicilian director and writer. His first feature film, Triokala (2015), received wide international recognition. He later wrote and directed Playmaker (2018), which premiered at the 75th Venice International Film Festival, and Signals of Life, which premiered at the Rome Film Fest in 2023.

Alguna vez alguien dijo que toda película es buena si termina con una canción de Van Morrison, aunque seguramente haya ejemplos para poner en duda esa afirmación. Algo similar sucede con “Lambada”, en otro sentido: las películas que disponen de esa canción son habitadas por un pasado no tan lejano, o que la canción acerca con indestructible fragilidad. Sciatunostro es una película con canciones magníficamente hechas cine, una de imágenes que se atesoran, de instantes orgullosamente aislables y a la vez unidos e inseparables, una película conectada con lo más preciado o lo más hermoso (un niño que se duerme en el hombro de un adulto, por ejemplo). La posibilidad de una isla, la posibilidad de una amistad como contraseña vital, la posibilidad de un —otro— verano azul. Javier Porta Fouz

Someone once said that every film that ends with a Van Morrison song is a good one, although there are surely examples that cast doubt on that statement. Something similar happens with “Lambada,” in another sense: movies that feature that song are inhabited by a not-so-distant past, or one that the song brings closer with indestructible fragility. Sciatunostro is a film with songs magnificently made into cinema, one of treasurable images, of moments that are proudly isolatable and at the same time united and inseparable, a film connected to the most precious or the most beautiful (a child falling asleep on an adult's shoulder, for example). The possibility of an island, the possibility of friendship as a vital password, the possibility of a(nother) blue summer. JPF
