Sinopsis

Un film experimental y atmosférico donde la niebla, el neón y las sirenas difusas desorientan. En una ciudad inestable, la cámara descubre un letrero, “Europa”, que se apaga, reflejo de una soledad interior y de una fragilidad política creciente.

An atmospheric experimental film in which dense fog, fractured neon light, and muffled foghorns dissolve orientation. Drifting through an unstable cityscape, the camera reveals a fading “Europa” sign, reflecting inner isolation and a growing sense of political fragility.

Un corto decide tomar las riendas de una especie de vacío esencial. En cada plano se omite lo humano, pero se sugiere su presencia, como cuando se oye la algarabía de la gente en un parque de diversiones, o se ven las luces de un patrullero a ras de la pantalla. El corto tiene un sistema visible, de una belleza impúdica, sin concesiones. Se trata de quitar la vida de la pantalla, casi literalmente, para suplantarla por un cierto misterio de paisaje nocturno terminal, un poco indiferente a las cosas humanas. La palabra Europa, en tanto, brilla en algún cartel y le da marco al corto. ¿Un nombre vaciado, olvidado de sus sueños y aspiraciones? ¿El rótulo de una civilización atrapada en su recurrencia de “noche y niebla”? Preguntas que no se responden, pero el cine no está para eso. David Obarrio

A short film decides to take charge of some kind of essential void. In each shot, the human element is omitted, but its presence is suggested, as when you hear the hubbub of people in an amusement park, or see the lights of a patrol car at the edge of the screen. The short film has a visible system, of immodest beauty, without concessions. It is about removing life from the screen, almost literally, to replace it with a certain mystery of a terminal night landscape, somewhat indifferent to human things. The word Europe, meanwhile, shines on a sign and frames the short film. A name emptied of its dreams and aspirations? The label of a civilization trapped in its recurrence of “night and fog”? Questions that remain unanswered, but that's not what cinema is for. DO
