Sinopsis

In Israel, after October 7, a jazz musician and a dancer give their art, try to get by offering their art in their bleeding country. When he is commissioned to compose a new national anthem, the crisis takes on another dimension.

The film follows the chaotic journey of a couple of Israeli artists caught up in warmongering propaganda after October 7: a turbulent love story, a decadent political fiction, a desperate musical. Nadav Lapid seeks a cinematic form that resonates with the current situation. The filmmaker depicts how everyday life became unbearable with a whirlwind of ideas, political awareness, and absolute artistic freedom. The abrupt camera movements, dazzling colors and oppressive sound textures are accentuated by the noise of the bombings in Gaza. The physical register of the actors conveys a visceral truth capable of sustaining an extraordinary film that, amid the vertigo, allows itself an existential reflection on the value of words. AP
