Sinopsis

Un mes después de la invasión rusa, 12,5 millones de ucranianos han abandonado sus hogares y 5 millones han dejado su país. Andrei está en Francia con su mujer y sus hijos. El director lo acompaña a Lviv, Ucrania, donde vivió su abuelo, para recoger algunas pertenencias personales.

One month after the Russian invasion, 12.5 million Ukrainians have left their homes and 5 million have left their country. Andrei is in France with his wife and children. The director accompanies him to Lviv, Ukraine, where his grandfather grew up, to pick up some personal belongings.

Sí, leyeron bien: el director de maravillas cómicas como La Fille du 14 juillet y La Loi de la jungle hizo un documental sobre la invasión rusa a Ucrania. Peretjatko fue a la guerra y volvió con una película que no tiene nada de comedia (aunque se hable al pasar del humor y su necesidad) pero que es, digámoslo ya, una maravilla. Con una curiosidad insaciable por el mundo ejercida con decoro y nobleza; con una voz en off casi godardiana y la elección fundamental y fundamentada del 16mm, Voyage au bord de la guerre es quizá la gran película sobre estar en la guerra y al mismo tiempo estar en otra parte: lejos de la necesidad televisiva del registro en vivo; cerca de la lucidez del pensamiento, del que piensa y toma partido. Yes, you read that right: the director of such comic wonders as The Rendez-Vous of Déjà-Vu and Struggle for Life has made a documentary about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Peretjatko went to war and came back with a film that is not a comedy at all (even if it talks about humor and the need for it in passing) but is, let's just say it, a marvel. With an insatiable curiosity for the world exercised with decorum and nobility; with an almost Godardian voice-over and the fundamental and well-founded choice of 16mm, Voyage Along the War is perhaps the great film about being at war and, at the same time, being somewhere else: far from the TV-like need for live capture; close to the lucidity of thought, of those who think and take sides.
