Sinopsis

Gladys vive al margen de todo: sin casa, sin cobertura médica ni cuenta bancaria. Nada parece importarle, ni siquiera el sexo, el alcohol o el baile. Un día se cruza con Eugénie, una amiga del colegio que intenta ayudarla, aun contra su voluntad.

Gladys lives on the fringes of society, without a home, health insurance card or a bank account. Nothing seems to matter to her, not even sex, alcohol or dancing. One day, she runs into a friend from high school, Eugénie, who tries to help her against her will.

Cineasta francés cuyo primer largo, 4 Days in France, se estrenó mundialmente en la Semana Internacional de la Crítica del Festival de Cine de Venecia en 2016. Su mediometraje Poitiers fue seleccionado en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Locarno, donde recibió un premio y una mención especial en el Festival de Cine de Brive.

A French filmmaker whose first feature film, 4 Days in France, had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival's International Critics' Week in 2016. His medium-length film Poitiers was selected for the Locarno International Film Festival, where it received an award, and a special mention at the Brive Film Festival.

¿Qué es esta película fascinante? La respuesta está soplando en algún lado, en ese espacio entre una ventana de alguien que mira hacia un balcón, y viceversa. Gente que se mira, que se pierde, que es ayudada o que se somete a serlo. Gente que vive de otra manera, o quizás se perdieron las maneras pero no las formas. Película confiada en sus formas, Un balcon à Limoges avanza con seguridad de seducción, con certeza para hacer bailar, con ese savoir faire y esa sapiencia acerca del cine que exudan los que han aprendido las bases generales (Hitchcock) y las afinidades particulares (Reybaud hizo un documental sobre Paul Vecchiali) y que abre caminos o posibilidades de recorrerlos desde lo aparentemente más diáfano hasta lo más negro, mucho más de lo que podíamos suponer. What is this fascinating film? The answer is blowing somewhere, in that space between someone's window looking out onto a balcony, and vice versa. People who look at each other, who get lost, who are helped or who submit to being helped. People who live differently, or perhaps have lost their manners but not their ways. A film confident in its form, A Balcony in Limoges moves forward with seductive confidence, with the certainty of making you dance, with that savoir faire and wisdom about cinema exuded by those who have learned the general basics (Hitchcock) and particular affinities (Reybaud made a documentary about Paul Vecchiali) and which opens up paths or possibilities to travel from the seemingly most diaphanous to the darkest, much more than we could have imagined.
