Sinopsis

A toda velocidad por las calles nocturnas de Guangzhou, unos adolescentes desahogan su frustración con el mundo exterior. Los problemas desaparecen entre los brillantes fuegos artificiales que dan la bienvenida a los Juegos Olímpicos y el fervor de la celebración nacional.

Speeding through the late-night streets of Guangzhou, teenagers vent their frustration with the external world. The troubles they cause unexpectedly dissipate amidst the bright fireworks that welcome the Olympics and the fervor of a national celebration.

¿Cuán probable es que en la misma competencia de un festival haya dos películas que transcurren en medio de manifestaciones contra los Juegos Olímpicos? Bueno, esta vez es del todo probable, aunque no haya ninguna otra coincidencia entre Le Rendez-vous de l'été y The Burning Night; el día y la noche, casi de manera literal. Si la francesa pone a las protestas contra París 2024 como fondo de la deriva –soleada, rohmeriana– de la inolvidable Blandine, en el corto de Demon Wong el paso de la antorcha olímpica por Cantón es el vórtice que arrastra sin remedio a sus jóvenes salvajes y anónimos.
