Sinopsis

Mientras pasa sus vacaciones en casa de sus abuelos en el campo, un niño aprende una cruel lección sobre la misericordia.

While spending the holidays at his grandparents’ place in the countryside, a boy learns a cruel lesson in mercy.

En 2011 terminó el curso de cine en el European Film College de Dinamarca. Entre sus cortos se encuentran Tio Rui (2011) y Maria sem pecado (2016), estrenados en el Festival DocLisboa. Actualmente divide su tiempo entre Copenhague, Zagreb, Berlín y Portugal.

Tarkovsky y Sokurov como mentores fantasmales pero presentes. La gravedad, la sequedad del acento eslavo y sus relatos. El encuentro con la naturaleza y con sus ritmos; el descubrimiento primigenio de su violencia y de las implicancias éticas asociadas a su aparición. Todo eso puede pensarse, sin riesgo de caer en exageración alguna, frente a esta obra. Pero hay algo más. Porque Iván, el niño, fuma a instancias de su abuelo. Y aprende a disparar. Y en esa relación que entabla con los mayores, en la manera, en los gestos y acciones con los que lo van introduciendo al mundo, lo que se despliega es una sensibilidad distinta pero no nueva, un modo de ser de las cosas que supo ser nuestro y que aún lo es, dispuesto a no desaparecer. Tarkovsky and Sokurov as ghostly but present mentors. The gravity, the dryness of the Slavic accent and its stories. The encounter with nature and its rhythms; the primordial discovery of its violence and of the ethical implications associated with its appearance. All this can be thought, without the risk of falling into any exaggeration, when confronted with this work. But there is something more. Because Ivan, the boy, smokes at the behest of his grandfather. And he learns to shoot. And in that relationship he establishes with older people, in the way, the gestures and the actions with which they introduce him to the world, what unfolds is a sensibility that is different but not new, a way of being of things that used to be ours and still is, determined to not disappear.
