Sinopsis

La fantasía y la realidad se confunden cuando Lolo, de 16 años, queda atrapada en un bucle freudiano en torno a una torta de frutillas y su madre Norma. A medida que se hunde en este ciclo surrealista, el límite entre el mundo real y el onírico se desvanece.

Fantasy bleeds into reality when 16-year-old Lolo becomes entangled in a Freudian loop centered around a strawberry shortcake and her mother, Norma. As she sinks deeper into this surreal stage, the boundary between reality and dreamscape blurs.

En la triple frontera entre los Tokio Kitansho, de Murakami, la zona más inquietante del cine de Kiyoshi Kurosawa y la región salvaje explorada por Kim Kyung-mook, Strawberry Shortcake vuelve a probar el raro talento oriental para generar una dimensión desconocida a la hora de la sexualidad seducida por la tragedia griega. La elegancia oriental no quita el grotesco pastelero: de hecho, ambos se potencian, llevando la torta del título de Eros a Tanatos, pasando por improbables maravillas –siempre puertas adentro– como prolegómenos carnales con un consolador de plástico y un fetichismo de pies digno de Quentin Tarantino. In the triple frontier between Murakami's Tokyo Kitansho, the most disturbing area of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's cinema and the wild region explored by Kim Kyung-mook, Strawberry Shortcake once again demonstrates the rare Asian talent for generating an unknown dimension when it comes to sexuality seduced by Greek tragedy. Eastern elegance does not remove the pastry-like grotesque: in fact, both are enhanced, leading the cake of the title from Eros to Thanatos, including some unlikely wonders -always indoors- such as carnal foreplay with a plastic dildo and a foot fetishism worthy of Quentin Tarantino.
