The leader of X-Ray Spex was one of the most original voices of British punk. An artist who, from her very name, denounced the excess and artificiality of consumer society, while at the same time celebrating them and turning them into aesthetic weapons that, paradoxically, allowed her to bare her authenticity. Her daughter, Celeste Bell, co-director of the documentary, constructs a narrative that not only celebrates her mother's legacy in Afropunk and the riot grrrl movement, but also explores her more intimate side.
