Sinopsis

En la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba aparecen decenas de latas con films estudiantiles de los años 60 y 70, creídos perdidos durante la dictadura. Medio siglo después, esas imágenes recuperan la pasión de una generación y el abrupto final de sus sueños.

Dozens of cans containing student films from the 1960s and 1970s, believed to have been lost during the dictatorship, turn up at the National University of Córdoba. Half a century later, these images bring back the passion of a generation and the abrupt end of their dreams.

Santiago Sein

(1975, Córdoba, Argentina). Lic. en Cine y TV por la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, y docente de la carrera de Cine y TV. Escribió y dirigió series y unitarios documentales para diversos medios e instituciones. Entre sus films se encuentra el largo documental Yo no es otro (Bafici ‘21).

(1975, Córdoba, Argentina). He has a Bachelor’s degree in Film and TV from the National University of Córdoba, and teaches in the Film and TV major. He wrote and directed series and documentaries for different media outlets and institutions. His films include the documentary feature I Is Not Another (Bafici ‘21).

Si la película no fuera más que un acto de preservación ya tendría un valor en sí misma. Pero estos rollos que revela Santiago Sein en su rol de archivista son más que un mero testimonio de la historia política de los años 70. Otra revelación: Sein en su rol de director, tomando fragmentos sueltos e imaginando una obra maestra perdida del Tercer Cine. El material original lleva el germen de su época, de manifiestos, consignas revolucionarias y programas para la liberación. Sein suma capas de autorreflexividad y transforma esquirlas sueltas en una bomba de cine militante. De entre un mausoleo de dispositivos analógicos, una fantasmagoría setentista que funciona como documental clásico, como ensayo político y como found footage poético. Santiago G. Cragnolino

If the film were nothing more than an act of preservation, it would already have value in itself. But these reels that Santiago Sein develops in his role as archivist are more than a mere testimony to the political history of the 1970s. Another revelation: Sein in his role as director, taking loose fragments and imagining a lost masterpiece of Third Cinema. The original material carries the seeds of its era, of manifestos, revolutionary slogans, and programs for liberation. Sein adds layers of self-reflexivity and transforms loose fragments into an activist cinema bomb.
