Sinopsis

París, Juegos Olímpicos de 2024. Isaac trabaja como hombre sándwich. Cléo, como mujer sándwich. Un día, Isaac ve a Cléo arrojar un skate al agua.

Paris, 2024 Olympic Games. Isaac works as a sandwich man. Cléo, as a sandwich woman. One day, Isaac sees Cléo throw a skateboard into the water.

Es un joven cineasta y fotógrafo nacido en 1996. Tras su primer corto, The Olympic Flame, dirigió Santa Maria Kyoko, seleccionado en el Festival de Côté Court y Montsouris Park, también ganador del Premio Leitz Discovery en el Festival de Cannes 2024. Su nuevo corto, No Skate! (2025), también se presentó en el festival francés.

He is a young filmmaker and photographer born in 1996. After his first short film, The Olympic Flame, he made Santa Maria Kyoko, which was selected at the Côté Court Festival and Montsouris Park and won the Leitz Discovery Prize at the 2024 edition of Cannes. His new short film, No Skate! (2025) also premiered at the French festival.

Todos tienen sus razones, incluso para odiar los skates. Aunque en este corto luminoso también se pueden escuchar historias y argumentos a favor de esos objetos de cuatro ruedas (¿adminículo de transporte?, ¿de movimiento?, ¿de entretenimiento?, ¿MacGuffin?). Lo que importa es la convicción, o mejor dicho la convicción por el encanto, por buscar las formas amables de transitar una ciudad atravesada tantas veces por el cine, y por tradiciones que están ahí para ser usadas, en ocasiones —felices— con la prestancia que exhibe Guil Sela para contar esta historia de chico y chica que andan con sus frescuras, sus manías, sus torpezas y sus opiniones para reírse, caminar, enamorar y recordarnos cuánto les tenemos que agradecer a François Truffaut y a Antoine Doinel. Everyone has their reasons, even for hating skateboards. Although in this luminous short film you can also hear stories and arguments in favor of these four-wheeled objects (a means of transport?, of movement?, of entertainment?, a MacGuffin?). What matters is conviction, or, rather, conviction in charm, in seeking friendly ways to navigate a city so often traversed by cinema, and by traditions that are there to be used, sometimes—happily—with the poise displayed by Guil Sela in telling this story of a boy and a girl who walk around with their quirks, their obsessions, their clumsiness, and their opinions, laughing, walking, falling in love, and reminding us how much we have to thank François Truffaut and Antoine Doinel.
