Sinopsis

Candela atropella por accidente al perro de su sobrino y decide callarlo. Inventa una historia sobre una peregrinación canina y lo invita a buscarlo. Mientras siguen el rastro, la mentira empieza a consumirla poco a poco.

Candela accidentally runs over her nephew's dog and decides to keep it a secret. She invents a story about a canine pilgrimage and invites him to go on his search. As they follow the trail, the lie begins to consume her little by little.

Directora y guionista graduada en Dirección por la Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC). Durante sus estudios, dirigió varios cortos de ficción y documentales, como La mort petita (2021), que ganó a Mejor Cortometraje en el BCN Film Fest.

A writer-director and Filmmaking graduate from the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC). During her studies, she directed several fiction and documentary shorts such as La mort petita (2021), which won the Best Short Film award at the BCN Film Fest.

Hay una mentira en el título y una mentira en el centro de Ningú borda. La segunda, la central, es una mentira sin maldad pero malamente calibrada, como si Candela —la extraordinaria Laia Cabrera Vicens, para quien habría que inventar el superlativo de “acierto de casting”— no hubiese escuchado nunca eso de las patas cortas y la cola muy larga. (O sí, pero quisiera un lugar en el panteón de los mentirosos entrañables de la comedia, presidido a perpetuidad por el Royal Tenenbaum de Gene Hackman). Y ya que estamos cerca de Wes Anderson podríamos decir que, como su corto Bottle Rocket (1993), el de Coldwell Serra parece el big bang de todo un universo: un cine incandescente y expansivo, hecho del absurdo vital de la Cataluña profunda y la comicidad secreta de su lengua. There’s a lie in the title and a lie at the heart of Nobody Barks. The second one—the central one—is a lie without malice but poorly calibrated, as if Candela—the extraordinary Laia Cabrera Vicens, for whom one would have to invent the superlative “casting hit”—had never heard the saying about short legs and a very long tail. (Or maybe she has, but she’d like a spot in the pantheon of endearing comedy liars, presided over in perpetuity by Gene Hackman’s Royal Tenenbaum). And since we’re on the subject of Wes Anderson, we could say that, like his short film Bottle Rocket (1993), Coldwell Serra’s film feels like the big bang of an entire universe: an incandescent and expansive cinema, made of the vital absurdity of rural Catalonia and the secret humor of its language.
