Sinopsis

Un kimche, sabio mapuche, llega a una consulta donde pacientes reclaman más medicación. Pero todo es una ilusión: han muerto por un weküfü, entidad maligna invisible. El kimche los conduce al Miñche Mapu, donde espíritus deciden quiénes pueden regresar a la vida.

A kimche, a Mapuche wise man, arrives at a clinic where patients are demanding more medication. But it is all an illusion: they have been killed by a weküfü, an invisible evil entity. The kimche leads them to Miñche Mapu, where spirits decide who can return to life.

La tierra invisible podría ser una comedia de doble receta archivada. Pero en verdad es sobre los fantasmas del pueblo mapuche y la atracción (doble acepción) que su influjo ejerce sobre los vivos, mapuches o no; especialmente no mapuches. Cristián Sánchez construye una comedia refinada, con el mismo elenco de Corrientes ocultas (magníficos intérpretes todos), en la que el magnetismo de una idea simple acciona un sinfín de comentarios sobre Chile y sus circunstancias. Filosofía, historia, comedia y disposición poética no son cosas que no puedan convivir en el universo de Sánchez, cuya vitalidad inagotable proporciona la felicidad impar de un cine que no se parece a nada. The Invisible Land could be dismissed as a double perscription comedy. But in reality, it’s about the ghosts of the Mapuche people and the attraction (in both senses of the word) their influence exerts on the living—whether Mapuche or not; especially non-Mapuche. Cristián Sánchez crafts a refined comedy, featuring the same cast as Corrientes ocultas (all magnificent performers), in which the magnetism of a simple idea sparks endless commentary on Chile and its circumstances. Philosophy, history, comedy, and poetic sensibility are all things that can coexist in Sánchez’s universe, whose inexhaustible vitality provides the unique joy of a cinema unlike any other. This film is also the definitive challenge to a cinema tamed for global distribution. MR
