Sinopsis

Edgardo Marranti pinta guiado por seres de otras dimensiones. Cuando comenzó, su familia y amigos creyeron que estaba loco, y él también. En busca de respuestas, emprendió un camino de autoconocimiento que confirmó sus experiencias. Hoy su misión es clara: pintar.

Edgardo Marranti paints guided by beings from other dimensions. When he started, his family and friends thought he was crazy, and so did he. In search of answers, he embarked on a path of self-knowledge that confirmed his experiences. Today his mission is clear: to paint.

(1979, Buenos Aires, Argentina). Diseñador de imagen y sonido de la UBA. Trabajó en producciones televisivas como camarógrafo y editor. Dirigió los largos ¿Dónde estás, Negro? (Bafici ‘16) y Acid Mothers Reynols. Live and Beyond (Bafici ’21).

Reseña / Review

Un hombre pinta cuadros. Eso no tendría nada de particular si el artista no recibiera mensajes, si no se le presentaran como salidos de la nada paisajes extraños y seres inconcebibles con los que realiza un comercio natural, como si fueran personas corrientes. Alejandro Maly, que se ha ocupado de Arturo Maly –a la sazón su padre– en una película anterior, indagando en el que fue uno de los mejores malos del cine argentino, ahora parece deshacerse de él para emprender el retrato de otro “malo”, un falso loco: el artista como médium y su eterna condena. La película, en un movimiento que aplaudiría William Blake, impugna la burocracia del arte y abraza al místico, el que vive impelido a traficar mensajes, visiones, imposibles códigos cifrados en deslumbrantes lenguas extranjeras. A man paints pictures. This would be nothing special if the artist did not receive messages, if strange landscapes and inconceivable beings with whom he carries out a natural exchange, as if they were ordinary people, were not presented to him out of nowhere. Alejandro Maly, who has dealt with Arturo Maly -his own father- in a previous film, delving into one of the best villains in Argentine cinema, now seems to get rid of him to undertake the portrait of another “villain,” a false madman: the artist as medium and his eternal condemnation. The film, in a move that William Blake would applaud, challenges the bureaucracy of art and embraces the mystic, the one who lives impelled to trafficking messages, visions, impossible codes encrypted in dazzling foreign languages.
