At one point in this splendidly brief documentary by Emmanuel Barnault, Claire Denis looks at Jacques Rozier with undeniable admiration, with one of those genuine, limpid looks that let us know that the person being observed is someone absolutely unique. Rozier was unique, his films were unique, and this documentary, if it only served to invite everyone to see Rozier's films, would have already fulfilled its purpose. But, of course, this is achieved through an amazing pace, which adjusts and readjusts speeds, allows us to listen to Rozier with some of the best statements made by any human being and, what's more, brings us fragments of his films and tells us about the vicissitudes of being Rozier and making films or, rather, making films by Rozier.
