Intimacy of the Parks

A 60 años de su estreno y a poco más de medio año de la despedida de Manuel Antín, nos reencontramos con uno de sus films más complejos y desafiantes. Rodada parcialmente en Lima y Cuzco, Intimidad de los parques enfrentó múltiples dificultades técnicas que marcaron su estreno y su recepción. Con el tiempo, se convirtió en una pieza clave del cine argentino de los años 60, un testimonio de la ambición de Antín por un cine que dialogara con la literatura y explorara nuevas formas narrativas. Se presenta un triángulo amoroso, un antiguo ídolo de piedra y un impulso ancestral que exige un sacrificio construyendo un juego de espejos. Los relatos se entrecruzan, los límites entre ficción y realidad se desdibujan y el destino queda atrapado en una estructura de repeticiones y fatalidades. Se proyecta una copia en 16mm del Museo del Cine.

Sixty years after its premiere and a little more than half a year after Manuel Antín's passing, we revisit one of his most complex and challenging films. Partially shot in Lima and Cuzco, Intimidad de los parques faced multiple technical difficulties that marked its release and reception. Eventually, it became a key piece of Argentine cinema of the 1960s, a testimony to Antín's ambition for a cinema that would engage in dialogue with literature and explore new narrative forms. It presents a love triangle, an ancient stone idol and an ancestral impulse that demands a sacrifice, constructing a game of mirrors. The stories intertwine, the boundaries between fiction and reality become blurred and destiny is trapped in a structure of repetitions and fatalities. A 16mm print from the Museo del Cine will be screened.
