La banda punk femenina The Slits se formó en Londres en 1976 y creó algunas de las canciones más innovadoras e influyentes del movimiento punk. A través de entrevistas e imágenes de archivo, el film retrata su historia, desde su formación hasta el final.

All girl punk band The Slits formed in London in 1976 and produced some of the most influential and innovative music of the punk movement. Through interviews and archive footage, the film tells their story, from their formation to their end.

Bill Badgley

Estudió psicología, sociología y etnografía urbana. Produce documentales para cine y televisión desde 2008. Es el fundador de The Documentary Center y de la productora Molasses Manifesto. En 2011 estrenó su ópera prima, Kill All Redneck Pricks.

En un momento del film, Helen Reddington, historiadora del punk y profesora, da catédra: “El rock ‘n’ roll era sobre hombres rebelándose contra sus mamás y The Slits usaron el rock ‘n’ roll para rebelarse contra todo”. ¡Háganse a un lado, punks! Como parte del Monte Rushmore de las riot grrrls originales que fueron un secreto que no debía serlo en la historia del rock, llegan The Slits. Lideradas por la hija adoptiva de Johnny Rotten, Ari Up, y con pedigrí punk de alta gama presente en todas sus integrantes, la banda sonaba en la segunda mitad de los años 70 de forma furiosa y sucia, pero también feminista, salvaje y realmente alterativa. At one point in the film, Helen Reddington, punk historian and professor, delivers the following statement: "Rock ‘n’ roll was about men rebelling against their moms, and The Slits used rock ‘n’ roll to rebel against everything." Step aside, punks! As part of the Mount Rushmore of the original riot grrrls who were a rock history secret that shouldn't have been one, along comes The Slits. Led by Johnny Rotten's adopted daughter, Ari Up, and with high-end punk pedigree present in all its members, the band sounded, in the second half of the 1970s, angry and dirty, but also feminist, wild and truly alternative.
