Sinopsis

Frankie, una joven madre con discronometría, no puede percibir el tiempo. Guiada por cintas de casete, acepta un trabajo arriesgado de una misteriosa mujer para sostener a su familia, sin imaginar las consecuencias que le esperan.

Frankie, a young mother with dyschronometria, struggles to perceive time. Using cassette tapes for guidance, she takes a risky job from a mysterious woman to support her family, unaware of the dark consequences that await.

Todavía se pueden rodar thrillers así; pequeñas bombas de tiempo, en 16 mm, con muchas ideas minuciosamente servidas, como si el cine fuera todavía un acontecimiento del que se puede esperarlo todo. Gazer exhibe una tensión contenida, con una joven protagonista, atribulada pero decidida, un poco metida en el lance físico y otro poco acosada por asuntos que al espectador le tocará juzgar si no se hallan dentro de su propia cabeza. El clima ominoso de algunas escenas recuerda en algo al de Personal Shopper (Olivier Assayas), con sus rasgos sobrenaturales ofreciendo el marco para las andanzas de la chica, una especie de Falconetti del siglo veintiuno (la actriz, maravillosa en su abismada beligerancia, tiene apellido ilustre, pero sin relación). You can still shoot thrillers like this; small time bombs, in 16 mm, with many ideas meticulously served, as if cinema were still an event from which you can expect everything. Gazer exhibits a restrained tension, with a troubled but determined young protagonist, somewhat engaged in physical action and somewhat haunted by issues that the viewer will be left to judge if they are inside her own head or not. The ominous atmosphere of some scenes is somewhat reminiscent of Personal Shopper (Olivier Assayas), with its supernatural features providing the framework for the adventures of the girl, a sort of twenty-first century Falconetti (the actress, marvelous in her withdrawn belligerence, has an illustrious but unrelated last name).
