Sinopsis

Esta es la historia de Philippe Genty, a quien sus sueños y traumas de niño lo llevaron a ser uno de los máximos exponentes del teatro y las artes visuales de la actualidad. A sus 83 años, nos abre las puertas de su estudio en un bosque de Bretaña.

This is the story of Philippe Genty, whose childhood dreams and traumas led him to become one of today's leading figures in theater and the visual arts. At 83 years old, he opens the doors of his studio in a forest in Brittany.

(1975, Uruguay). Lic. en Artes del Espectáculo por la Universidad Nanterre, obtuvo una maestría en la Universidad de Censier-Sorbonne. Dirigió los documentales Maracaná (2014, con Sebastián Bednarik) y Benedetti: 60 años con Luz (2022), entre otros.

¿En qué momento de la vida un artista deja de serlo? ¿Se es artista para siempre? Este documental no solo explora el proceso creativo y la vida de Philippe Genty, quien logró llevar a las tablas cierta lógica freudiana de los sueños a través de sus títeres, marionetas y alucinantes puestas teatrales (además de cruzar el mundo a bordo de un viejo Citroen con su arte). También es un semblante de esperanza, entereza y persistencia a la hora de continuar generando obra y legado desde la mirada y el talento de un artista que sobrevivió a un derrame cerebral y continúa creando mientras se acerca a sus horas crepusculares. At what point in life does an artist cease to be an artist? Is one an artist forever? This documentary not only explores the creative process and the life of Philippe Genty, who managed to bring to the stage a certain Freudian logic of dreams through his puppets, marionettes and mind-blowing theatrical productions (in addition to crossing the world aboard an old Citroen with his art). It is also a semblance of hope, fortitude and persistence when it comes to continuing to generate work and legacy from the gaze and talent of an artist who survived a stroke and continues to create as he approaches his twilight hours.
