Sinopsis

Dalia, una viuda jubilada atrapada en la rutina de su pueblo, recibe un pequeño electrodoméstico que esperaba desde hacía tiempo. Lo que comienza como un simple acto de cocina se transforma en un redescubrimiento íntimo de su deseo y su vitalidad.

Dalia, a retired widow lost in the routine of her village life, receives a long-awaited electric peeler she had been expecting for some time. What begins as a simple act of cooking becomes an intimate rediscovery of her desire and vitality.

An acclaimed Israeli filmmaker whose work has gained international recognition. Este corto es uno de esos objetos que engalanan la pantalla a fuerza de perplejidad y de un singular, empecinado espíritu de independencia. Oren Gerner captura rarezas que le hacen honor a su título, pero además es capaz de confeccionar imágenes tejidas con una melancolía evanescente que flota en cada escena como un murmullo. Si en algún momento el distraído espectador teme que el asunto caiga en un desliz ternurista hay que aventar sospechas; su tono casi siempre distanciado, sus parpadeos de ligera extravagancia, su comicidad un poco marciana (pero sentida) están allí como garantía. Los ocasionales raros encuadres y las felices digresiones que el corto se permite sin necesidad de rendir cuentas son parte esencial de una concepción del cine obstinadamente personal. David Obarrio

This short film is one of those works that graces the screen with its perplexity and unique, determined spirit of independence. Oren Gerner captures oddities that live up to its title, but he is also capable of crafting images woven with an evanescent melancholy that floats in each scene like a whisper. If at any point the distracted viewer fears that the subject matter will slip into sentimentality, they need not worry; its almost always detached tone, its flashes of slight extravagance, and its slightly Martian (but heartfelt) humor are there as a guarantee. The occasional strange framing and the happy digressions that the short film allows itself without having to answer for them are an essential part of an obstinately personal conception of cinema. DO
