Sinopsis

En Nochebuena, una familia se reúne para las que podrían ser las últimas vacaciones en su hogar ancestral. A medida que avanza la noche, surgen tensiones generacionales: una adolescente se escapa con sus amigas para reclamar el suburbio invernal como propio.

On Christmas Eve, a family gathers for what could be the last holiday in their ancestral home. As the night wears on and generational tensions arise, one of the teenagers sneaks out with her friends to claim the wintry suburb for her own.

Tyler Taormina

(1990, Nueva York, Estados Unidos). Estudió guion y trabaja como guionista, director y productor. Dirigió cuatro cortometrajes y los largos The Happiest Girl in the World (Bafici ‘10) y Everybody in Our Family (Bafici ‘12).

Tyler Taormina y su pandilla (presente en el Bafici también con Eephus y No Sleep Till) deciden volver a los suburbios. Su película anterior, Harper’s Comet, mostraba momentos solitarios y hasta vacíos en los suburbios, casi como sets esperando un relato; ahora crea el reverso de aquellas secuencias. Se calza el imaginario cosmético de Mi pobre angelito pero sin ironía y vuelve al barrio a pasear por situaciones de familia, como antes paseaba por esos rincones apagados. Taormina evoca el imaginario norteamericano y también su construcción lúdica pop. Casi como un fantasma enamorado, sin agenda, mira con ojos de cine y de recuerdos aquello que es tan plástico como sincero y tan sentido como artificial. Juan Manuel Domínguez

Tyler Taormina and his gang (also present at Bafici with Eephus and No Sleep Till) decide to return to the suburbs. His previous film, Harper's Comet, showed lonely and even empty moments in the suburbs, almost like sets waiting for a story; now he creates the reverse of those sequences. He wears the cosmetic imaginary of Home Alone but without irony, and returns to the neighborhood to walk through family situations, as he used to walk through those dull corners. Taormina evokes the American imaginary and also its playful pop construction. Almost like a ghost in love, without an agenda he gazes with the eyes of cinema and memories at that which is as plastic as it is sincere and as heartfelt as it is artificial. JMD
