Sinopsis

Lovecraft y Pessoa nunca se conocieron a pesar de haber vivido en la misma época, pero existe una enorme complementariedad entre sus vidas y sus obras. El film propone una correspondencia imaginaria entre los dos autores realizada exclusivamente a través de sus textos.

Lovecraft and Pessoa did not know each other despite having lived at the same time, but there is a huge complementarity between their lives and works. The film proposes an imaginary correspondence between the two authors, made exclusively from their texts.

Entre portentosos textos de Fernando Pessoa y Lovecraft oficiando de faros para iluminar mundos de agobio y extrañeza, la Inteligencia Artificial concibe imágenes monstruosas, cruza de cosas imposibles, aleaciones terroríficas. En lugar de recrear más fácilmente y con total impunidad cosas que antes se hacían “de verdad”, esta vez el imaginario ofrecido lleva como sello toda la añoranza de la pérdida de textura, de cosa “verdadera”, como si Magritte tomara la posta de un mundo que solo puede ser extraído de un inventario de afanes surrealistas. El resultado ofrece imágenes que salen de la cabeza (sueño o vigilia, es lo mismo), y esta película bellamente perturbadora quizá no sea otra cosa que el testimonio de una feroz melancolía. Amidst portentous texts by Fernando Pessoa and Lovecraft serving as beacons to illuminate worlds of oppression and strangeness, artificial intelligence conceives monstrous images, crosses impossible things, terrifying alloys. Instead of recreating more easily and with total impunity things that used to be done “for real,” this time the imaginary offered bears the stamp of a longing for the loss of texture, of “reality,” as if Magritte were taking the baton of a world that can only be extracted from an inventory of surrealistic desires. The result offers images that come out of the head (dream or vigil, it's the same thing), and this beautifully disturbing film is perhaps nothing more than the testimony of a fierce melancholy. MR
