About BAFICI

The Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (BAFICI) is one of the most important and particularly unique film festivals in Latin America, one whose programming presents surprises like few other cinematic events do. BAFICI offers a diverse menu of films to the residents of the City of Buenos Aires and its visitors, who come for its allure and its particular idea of renewal and tradition, already established over a quarter of a century of this event organized by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires. Since its first edition in 1999, BAFICI has reminded us that cinema is much more than what is usually offered in commercial theaters, that cinema is an art in motion in multiple senses, and that there are many films waiting for their potential viewers, especially those eager to not remain indifferent in front of the screen. On the other hand, BAFICI is the festival that premieres the most Argentine films, and in this edition, local cinema will have an even stronger presence, with novelty and variety.

For this very special moment that marks the 25th edition, at BAFICI we aim – as always – to be attentive to the cinematic drive of the times and, at the same time, to emphasize on looking back, particularly at the history of Argentine cinema.

The festival will take place between April 17th and the 28, 2024. It will feature more than 280 films, including feature films and shorts, programmed in approximately 500 exclusively in-person screenings in cinemas, across 6 venues with a total of 13 screens.
