(1972, Dublín, Irlanda). Guionista y director conocido por sus films Once (Bafici ‘08), Sing Street y Begin Again. Comenzó su carrera como cineasta dirigiendo videos para el grupo irlandés The Frames. También coescribió y dirigió tres episodios para la exitosa serie Bachelor’s Walk.

Until now, all of John Carney’s films (Once, Begin Again, Sing Street and Flora & Son) had been variations on the same theme: the power of music and songs to bring together people who are very different from one another. In Power Ballad, there’s a veteran wedding singer who left a rising band to start a family, a former teen idol whose solo career can’t seem to take off, and, between these two very different people, a soft-rock anthem called “How to Write a Song (Without You).” You can imagine where this is going; you can, but you won't see it coming.
