Sinopsis

El deseo de ser madre y la presión de su entorno llevan a Alejandra a fingir un embarazo. Lo que comienza como una mentira sostenida en la intimidad crece hasta convertirse en una simulación insostenible que termina desbordándola públicamente.

The desire to be a mother and pressure from those around her lead Alejandra to fake a pregnancy. What begins as a lie shared only with those closest to her grows into an unsustainable pretense that ultimately overwhelms her publicly.

A quince años de haber participado en el Bafici en el BAL (Buenos Aires Lab) con El salvavidas, Maite Alberdi regresa nuevamente al festival con una película rodada en México, producida por Netflix y estrenada en la Berlinale. Más allá de las condiciones de producción, Alberdi mantiene su pulso y su ritmo humanos y sigue realizando un cine propio, con amabilidad y sentido narrativo, en el que busca entender vidas en las que el dolor de ya no ser o no poder ser es un motor. Los hechos desde los que parte la película pueden ser material de periodismo artero y gritón, pero para Alberdi son la base para cruzar otra vez documental y ficción y entregar una película que no esquiva oscuridades sino que aquí son parte de un cine cálido y luminoso. Fifteen years after participating in Bafici’s BAL (Buenos Aires Lab) with El salvavidas, Maite Alberdi returns to the festival with a film shot in Mexico, produced by Netflix, and premiered at the Berlinale. Beyond the production conditions, Alberdi maintains her human touch and pace and continues to make her own kind of cinema, with kindness and narrative sense, in which she seeks to understand lives driven by the pain of no longer being or not being able to be. The events from which the film takes its starting point could be fodder for sensationalist, screaming journalism, but for Alberdi they are the foundation for once again blurring the lines between documentary and fiction and delivering a film that does not shy away from darkness—here, it is part of a warm and luminous cinema.
