Ahora nos olvidamos —ah, la memoria tiene sus trucos—, pero el cine supo ser el gran arte popular del siglo XX. En algún momento, además, las películas del sudeste asiático se convirtieron en la nueva “cosa nueva”; el Bafici fue pródigo en difundir películas de esa guisa, en retrospectivas de tiroteos y patadas felices, de melancolía y violencia. No es cuestión de ponerse ansiosos, pero con Sicko es como si los kazajos se hubieran lanzado a tomar la posta. Aquí hay engaños, correrías, matones de poca monta, pobreza, callejones sin salida, humor poco correcto, twist & shout. Todo filmado como los dioses del cine, los que filman bien: con vivacidad y ojo atento al movimiento constante, como para que el cine siga siendo un factor de atracción popular imperecedero. It's not a matter of getting anxious, but with Sicko, it's as if the Kazakhs had taken up the baton.
