Militantropos es un film de los contemplativos, pero con movimiento. El movimiento está dentro del plano, pero sobre todo está dentro de esos hombres que atraviesan la pantalla, llenos de determinación, pero también de azoramiento. Esta película de extraño título captura una cosa inasible, como si las almas de los soldados temblaran; eso no es algo que se pueda ver tan seguido. No es el miedo sino otra cosa. Hay como un misterio expuesto delante nuestro, que es menos el de la guerra (que al fin y al cabo quizá no tenga tanto misterio) que lo que el lenguaje médico burocrático denomina neurosis. No se trata de buenas noticias, como si no hubiera tiempo para ellas en estas imágenes abrumadoras. El abismo que existe entre la vida normal y la vida en situación de guerra es insalvable. Militantropos is one of those contemplative films, but with movement. The movement is within the frame, but above all it is within those men who cross the screen, full of determination, but also of bewilderment. This film with its strange title captures something elusive, as if the soldiers' souls were trembling; that is not something you see very often. It is not fear, but something else. There is a kind of mystery laid bare before us, which is less that of war (which, after all, may not be so mysterious) than what bureaucratic medical language calls neurosis. This is not good news, as if there were no time for it in these overwhelming images. The gulf between normal life and life in a war situation is unbridgeable. MR
