Sinopsis

Un hombre descubre una sirena y la oculta en un tanque, fascinado por su belleza e incapaz de escuchar sus intentos de comunicarse. Mientras el mundo empieza a enterarse del hallazgo, crece una tensión silenciosa entre ambos.

A man discovers a mermaid and hides her away in a tank, captivated by her beauty but unaware of her silent pleas. She tries to reach him, but her voice is lost in the language he won't hear. As the world catches wind of his discovery, a quiet tension builds.

Mija Kembrė

Directora de orquesta y cineasta lituana, graduada de la Escuela Nacional de Cine de Vilna. Entre sus obras se incluyen el corto de ficción Time Will Come (2022), el documental Kvadratas (2019) y Sirena, desarrollado en un taller de la Werner Herzog Stiftung.

She is a Lithuanian film director and concert conductor, a graduate from the National Film School in Vilnius. Her works include the short fiction Time Will Come (2022), the documentary Kvadratas (2019) and Sirena, developed at a Werner Herzog Stiftung workshop.

Un muchacho fornido, cruza de David Nalbandian y José Meolans, se encuentra con una insólita criatura. Al toque, le da refugio en una piscina. Lo exótico, lo extraño, “lo Marcos López”: una cuenta matemática que da como resultado una mezcolanza que tiene sub-realismo, artificio y la sensación de “cuadro vivo”. El corto de la lituana Mija Kembre nos lleva hasta las Islas Canarias, un mundo de colores e imaginación. La irrupción de la criatura —una bellísima sirena— llama la atención de Werner Herzog (himself) que planea documentarla. Poco a poco, entre un zurcido de breves intenciones, va armándose una especie de vínculo entre el muchacho y la criatura. A stocky young man, a cross between David Nalbandian and José Meolans, encounters an unusual creature. Right away, he gives it shelter in a swimming pool. The exotic, the strange, “the Marcos López”: a mathematical equation that results in a mixture of sub-realism, artifice, and the feeling of a “living painting.” The short film by Lithuanian director Mija Kembre takes us to the Canary Islands, a world of color and imagination. The appearance of the creature—a beautiful mermaid—catches the attention of Werner Herzog (himself), who plans to document it. Little by little, amid a patchwork of brief intentions, a kind of bond develops between the boy and the creature.
