Sinopsis

Annelie, antropóloga dedicada a ritos mortuorios, investiga el suicidio de su abuelo en dictadura. En una casona que fue productora y luego centro de tortura, se une a una periodista y a un matemático para buscar un fragmento de film que el abuelo ocultó y que registra un crimen.

Annelie, an anthropologist dedicated to mortuary rites, investigates her grandfather's suicide during the dictatorship. In a mansion that was once a production facility and later a torture center, she joins forces with a journalist and a mathematician to search for a fragment of film that her grandfather hid, which documents a crime.

Sánchez inaugura un género con su habitual destreza y desparpajo: la comedia oculta. Se trata de una forma de comedia que está allí, esperando ser descubierta; a la vista de todos, pero no siempre al alcance de todos. En boca de intérpretes fuera de serie, las frases caen aquí como en picada mientras se vuelve a los fantasmas de la historia chilena reciente, esos que se han velado ya, pero que insisten. Sátira o crítica del pasado y el presente, de los demonios y sus sombras, del dolor y sus usos, de los muertos y los vivos; de los vivillos, los despistados, las mortajas y los inocentes. Una gran comedia con el ocultismo como coartada, felizmente concebida según el sistema de Sánchez —probablemente el más joven de los cineastas— en el que la economía de recursos es la ética de lo narrado. Sánchez inaugurates a genre with his usual skill and self-assurance: hidden comedy. It is a form of comedy that is there, waiting to be discovered; in plain sight, but not always within everyone's reach. In the mouths of outstanding performers, the lines come thick and fast as we return to the ghosts of recent Chilean history, those who have already been laid to rest but insist on returning. Satire or criticism of the past and the present, of demons and their shadows, of pain and its uses, of the dead and the living; of the lively, the clueless, the shrouded, and the innocent. A great comedy with the occult as its alibi, happily conceived according to the system pursued by Sánchez (probably the youngest of all filmmakers), in which resource saving is the ethics of the narrative.
