Sinopsis

György Kurtág, figura clave de la vanguardia de posguerra, mantiene una vitalidad creativa en la vejez. Kurtág Fragments recorre los lugares de su vida y el estreno de Fin de partie para mostrar cómo las emociones se transforman en música.

György Kurtág, a major figure of the post-war avant-garde, remains spiritually vibrant despite his old age. Kurtág Fragments takes us through key places in his life and the premiere of Fin de Partie to show the transformation of emotions into music.

Dénes Nagy

Director y guionista húngaro. Se graduó en Dirección Cinematográfica en la Universidad de Teatro y Artes Cinematográficas de Budapest en 2009. Dirigió varios cortos premiados en festivales internacionales. Su primer largo, Natural Light, ganó el Oso de Plata a Mejor Director en Berlinale 2021.

He is a Hungarian film director and screenwriter. He graduated from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest in Film Directing in 2009. He directed several short films that won awards at international festivals. His first feature film, Natural Light was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlinale in 2021.

Kurtág aparece tocando, reflexionando, citando poemas. Kurtág es un genio de otro siglo. Es decir que su estatuto de genio le fue conferido en otro tiempo y otro mundo. Y el director sabe en todo momento qué mostrar, como si el retrato emulara formalmente la música: hay en efecto aquí una conformación musical, una danza entre el personaje y su retrato, entre el grave apresuramiento del mundo y el desdén principesco de la película hacia lo que no sea una belleza que se capta casi en estado puro. La película practica una especie de levitación sobre lo urgente para concentrarse en asuntos profundos e imperecederos, y esa naturaleza en cierto modo hermética es uno de sus aciertos; la idea del cine como ojo que habilita a centrarse en algo que se encuentra mucho más allá de lo inmediato. Kurtág appears playing, reflecting, quoting poems. Kurtág is a genius from another century. That is to say, his status as a genius was conferred upon him in another time and another world. And the director knows at all times what to show, as if the portrait formally emulated the music: there is indeed a musical conformation here, a dance between the character and their portrait, between the grave haste of the world and the film's princely disdain for anything that is not beauty captured in its purest form. The film practices a kind of levitation above the urgent to focus on profound and imperishable matters, and that somewhat hermetic nature is one of its strengths; the idea of cinema as an eye that enables us to focus on something that lies far beyond the immediate.
