Sinopsis

Un crucero recorre el Mediterráneo. Entre los jubilados que anhelan margaritas, Mary, una adolescente, deambula por el casino y gana su propio premio en el amor. Bajo la mágica luna del Egeo, los mitos griegos se entrecruzan con Las mil y una noches.

A cruise ship navigates the Mediterranean. Among the retirees yearning for margaritas, Mary, a teenager, wanders through the casino and wins her own prize in love. Under the magical Aegean moon, Greek myths intersect with Arabian Nights.

Entre sus muchos encantos, este medio –casi largo– de Konstantina Kotzamani no le hace asco al colorinche pop para pergeñar un coming of age que parece salido de Las mil y una noches, pero también de algún best seller de Alice Kellen. En la cruza irreverente de intensidad y de ritmo, la directora griega sirve su plato de romance y levísima intriga con una destreza arquitectónica, como si el viaje en un crucero fuera además el paso por diferentes mundos, distintos modos en que las piezas se arriman unas a otras para dar lugar a la aventura de lo desconocido. Mary podrá no saber algunas cosas, pero otras las aprende en el camino. Among its many charms, this medium-length (almost a feature) film by Konstantina Kotzamani does not shy away from colorful pop to create a coming-of-age tale that seems straight out of Arabian Nights, but also out of a best seller by Alice Kellen. In the irreverent cross between intensity and pace, the Greek director serves her dish of romance and light intrigue with an architectural dexterity, as if the journey on a cruise ship were also the passage through different worlds, different ways in which the pieces fit together to give way to the adventure of the unknown. Mary may not know some things, but she learns others along the way. The film captures the way a blonde beauty lets herself be swept along by the tide in the midst of a heady bliss of newness. DO
