Sinopsis

Una directora y su equipo femenino de fútbol se enfrentan al equipo masculino del pueblo, favorecido con privilegios por el alcalde. Un musical atrevido con coreografías vibrantes y con las actuaciones de Chris Doerk y Frank Schöbel, estrellas del pop de Alemania del Este.

A school principal and her women's soccer team face off against the town's men's team, favored with privileges by the mayor. A daring musical with vibrant choreography and performances by East German pop stars Chris Doerk and Frank Schöbel.

Joachim Hasler

(1929-1995, Berlín, Alemania). Fue un director, guionista y director de fotografía. Se formó como camarógrafo en los estudios de la DEFA, donde luego dirigió algunos de sus reconocidos films, como Hot Summer (1968).

Un musical de la República Democrática Alemana, un país que no existe más. Pero quedaron películas, entre otras cosas. Esta película recuperada y exhibida recientemente en la Berlinale es una –otra– demostración de la riqueza de la historia del cine, de su variedad, de su capacidad de sorprendernos. Don’t Cheat, Darling! es una –otra– de esas películas porfiadas que insisten en que las veamos en el cine, con gente alrededor, que invitan a la celebración colectiva, en este caso de un musical con asuntos como el fútbol, el presupuesto de un pueblito, la batalla y la atracción de los sexos, los conejos. Todo con rutilante color, secuencias armadas con notoria habilidad y talento y, sobre todo, con diversión desvergonzada. Javier Porta Fouz

A musical from the German Democratic Republic, a country that no longer exists. But some films remained, among other things. This one, recently recovered and shown at the Berlinale, is (another) proof of the richness of film history, of its variety, of its capability to surprise us. Don't Cheat, Darling! is (another) one of those obstinate films that insist that we see them at the theater, with people around, that invite us to a collective celebration, in this case of a musical with themes such as soccer, the budget of a small town, the battle and attraction of the sexes, rabbits. All with dazzling color, sequences put together with remarkable skill and talent and, above all, with unabashed fun. JPF
