Thomas Fürhapter

(1971, Viena, Austria). Estudió Filosofía en la Universidad de Viena. Trabaja como guionista, director y productor. Dirige la productora Electric Shadows Films. Luego de realizar varios cortometrajes, dirigió los largos The Third Option y Living Together.

Hay películas que parten de afirmaciones, o que incluso se animan a afirmar, como decía Godard, “esto es bello porque yo lo filmé así”. Hay otras películas que parten de preguntas, que exploran el mundo desde una genuina curiosidad. Cleaning & Cleansing se pregunta, claro, ¿qué es la limpieza? y también ¿qué es limpiar? y sigue con el cómo. Pero no solamente se pregunta cómo se limpia sino sobre todo cómo convertir estas preguntas y sus muy diversas respuestas en material cinematográfico. Hay muchos documentales que observan, pero no tantos entre ellos tienen la capacidad de hacernos partícipes –fascinados– de una investigación, y de la decisión de mirar con perspicacia y talento una zona específica de la variedad de la experiencia humana. There are films that start from affirmations, or even dare to affirm, as Godard used to say, “this is beautiful because I filmed it that way.” There are other films that start from questions, that explore the world from a genuine curiosity. Cleaning & Cleansing asks, of course, “What is cleaning?” and also “What is cleansing?” and continues with the how. But it asks not only how to clean, but above all how to turn these questions and their very diverse answers into cinematic material. There are many documentaries that observe, but not so many of them have the capacity to turn us into -fascinated- participants of a research, and of the decision to look with perspicacity and talent at a specific area of the variety of human experience.
